Ober Etch

Texture mixes with a touch of colour in our Ober Etch fabric, part of the new Abigail Ahern collection. We’re really excited about this fabric from an environmentally responsible point of view, because it’s made from 100% recycled polyester so you can ease your sustainability conscience. It reminds us of beautiful Berber rugs, and the Etch fabric goes back to the original source of the name. It’s a pale gritty cream with a large-scale grey diamond fleck pattern, and resplendent in the looped fabric that modern Berber is now known for. There’s a cocooning warmth to it without it being overpowering making it really versatile whether in neutral, monochrome or coloured style settings.

All our curtain fabrics are dry clean only, but there are other ways to keep your curtains looking great for longer. You can gently vacuum by using the upholstery attachment on your machine, or use a steamer starting at the top and working in large sweeping movements to the bottom of the curtains. For velvet fabrics, steam them from the lining side only. It is important to avoid getting water or steam on the face of the fabric as this may cause permanent damage. Check the fabric swatch for more information. Note: Curtains may shrink up to 3% after the first dry clean.

Standard curtains themselves are inherently child safe. However, as with all window dressings where cords are used, you should take steps to regularly check that your curtains are safe for children. This includes making sure that any cords used to hold header pleats in place are tied together and secured at all times, especially if you decide to adjust the header pleats after your curtains have been fitted. Never leave a length of cord exposed. Curtain tie-backs can also pose a risk to young children when they are looped in place around your curtains. We do not recommend curtain tie-backs in homes where young children are resident or visit. If you choose a corded curtain option, additional child safety devices will be fitted as standard. A tension spring device will be included to keep the cords under constant tension and a safety hook will be fitted to an adjacent wall with the cords hooked through to keep them out of reach of children.
